COMANCHE — Nick Alcorta tossed a six-inning no-hitter as the Early Longhorns secured the District 7-3A baseball championship with their seventh straight league win, 12-0 at Comanche Tuesday.

Alcorta struck out 11 batters and walked just one, which is all that kept the Longhorn hurler from a perfect game.

Offensively, Early (14-5, 7-0) tallied two runs in the first inning, one in the second, six in the fifth and three in the sixth.

The Longhorns’ 10-hit attack included two each from Abel Hernandez, Grant Fanara, Cojo Guidry and Christopher Johnston — who drove in three runs. David Morales added two RBIs and a single, while Christian Alcorta finished with one hit and one RBI.

Early hosts Brady at 7 p.m. Friday.

BRECKENRIDGE — The Bangs Dragons chalked up a 7-5 non-district victory at Breckenridge Tuesday, scoring four runs in their final two at-bats.

Trailing 5-3 after five innings, the Dragons surged in front, 6-5, in the top of the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh.

Bangs (8-11-1, 2-5) finished with seven hits and was aided by seven Breckenridge errors.

Mason Reichenau, Charlie Bettis, Chane Burton, Robert Richardson, Tucker Tarpley, Payton Hamrick and Colton Brewer tallied hits for the Dragons, while RBIs belonged to Bettis, Burton and Tarpley.

Austin Walker, Brayden James and Burton combined for 10 strikeouts and five walks in a five-hitter.

The Dragons host Comanche at 7 p.m. Friday.

COMANCHE — Comanche’s Rachel Ripley hit a grand slam as the Early Lady Horns suffered a 5-0 District 7-3A softball loss Tuesday.

Early (10-10, 3-4) will host Brady at 5 p.m. Friday while Comanche (7-0 in district) visits Bangs (19-4, 6-1) at 5 p.m. Friday to battle for the 7-3A softball championship.
