Yellow Jackets soccer downed by Texas Lutheran, Schreiner

The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets remained winless on the young soccer season over the weekend, dropping a pair of non-conference matches to Texas Lutheran and Schreiner at Citizens National Bank Field.
In Friday's 4-0 loss to Texas Lutheran, Howard Payne yielded all four goals in the second half.
Luis Green scored 7:55 into the second half, then found the net again just over 14 minutes later with an assist from Marco Roman. Later in the half, with 11:45 to go, Sanitago Quinonez recorded the first of his two goals, then tacked on another with 2:56 remaining.
Howard Payne attempted five shots with two on goal — by Jorge Perez and Zachary Moreno.
Texas Lutheran finished with nine attempts and seven on goal, as Andrew Hackney recorded seven saves for HPU.
In Saturday's 1-0 loss to Schreiner, Howard Payne yielded the only goal 6:31 into the contest as Kevin Escalera scored with an assist from Rodrigo Navarrete.
Howard Payne fired off 15 shots with three on goal — all by Moreno.
Schreiner attempted 16 shots with nine on target, as Hackney recorded eight saves.
The Yellow Jackets (0-4) are not in action again until 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Wayland Baptist.
