DALLAS — In a rare non-conference mid-week baseball outing, the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets fell victim to Dallas Christian by an 18-2 count Tuesday afternoon.

HPU finished with seven hits against Dallas Christian’s Dylan Hussey, who struck out five batters and walked two.

Meanwhile, the HPU pitching combination of Quinton Poe, Dustin Kelver, Garrett Virgin, Ethan Ferrel, Kyle Ramon, Jaime Boyd and Corey Howie surrendered 18 runs — 10 earned — on 15 hits with eight walks and six strikeouts.

The Howard Payne defense also committed five errors.

HPU scored once in the fourth inning as Matthew Daniel led off with a double and scored on Will Roberts’ two-out RBI double. Brett Quackenbush then singled home Kyle Kulczyk, who also singled, with two outs in the ninth.

Leading 6-1 after five innings, Dallas Christian scored seven runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh.
