Lions golf team wins Comanche Invitational

The Brownwood Lions won the Comanche Invitational with a 319 composite score, 11 shots better than runner-up Eastland.

PROCTOR — The Brownwood Lions, coming off a fourth-place performance at the Bluebonnet Invitational, took the top prize at the Comanche Invitational Tuesday at PAR Country Club.

Behind a round of 68 from Jaryn Pruitt, the Lions carded a composite score of 319 — 11 strokes better than runner-up Eastland (330) and 16 shots better than third-place Brady (335).

Grant Lewis added an 82 for Brownwood followed by Miller Baugh with an 84, Parker Dorsett with an 85 and Ben Kallman with a 92.

Blanket finished 12th as a team, Early was 13th, the Brownwood No. 2 team placed 15th and Bangs was 17th.

Leading the way for Blanket was Luke Kinkade with a round of 78 followed by Toby Florence with a 96, Jason Schwab with a 99 and Liam Menchaca with a 139.

For Early, Jake Angerstein fired a 76 trailed by Alex Hamilton with a 107, Tyler Thompson with a 114, Brayden Fry with a 120 and Darsha Bhatka with a 126.

The Brownwood No. 2 team was comprised of Rylee Nunn (96), Jason McBride (109), Quade Infinger (112), Caden Newbern (119) and Tyler Chew (125).

Competing for Bangs were Cason Taylor (110), Jack Tomme (112), Kaden Allen (112), Tyler Smith (127) and Taylor McDonald (131).
