BANGS — The Bangs Dragons scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away from Brady for a 13-4 victory in their District 7-3A baseball opener Thursday.

Bangs (4-7-1, 1-0) knotted the score at 2 in the bottom of the first inning and pulled even at 3 in the third. Brady (0-1 in district) regained a 4-3 edge in the top of the fifth, but the Dragons scored twice in the bottom half to seize the advantage and added plenty of insurance in their final trip to the plate.

The Dragons collected eight hits — three by Zach Fuqua and one apiece by Mason Reichenau, Tucker Tarpley, Charlie Bettis, Payton Hamrick and Landon James. Fuqua and Reichenau each tallied two RBIs while Tarpley, Bettis, Hamrick, Colton Brewer and Chance Beck added one apiece.

Bangs also drew nine walks — three by Hamrick, two by James and one each by Reichenau, Brewer, Beck and Bettis.

On the mound, Beck worked four innings and allowed four runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and five walks. Brewer notched the win in relief as he tossed the final three innings and struck out nine with one walk and no hits allowed.

The Dragons will visit Coleman at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
