FCA All-Star: San Saba's Adams leads South girls to hoops victory
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ All-Star Series kicked off last weekend with boys and girls basketball games in Brownwood and a golf tournament in Eastland.
The South beat the North 52-39 in the girls all-star game.
San Saba’s Brighton Adams, who will play basketball for Angelo State University next year, led the South in scoring with 13 points. She also had two 3-point goals and one each of rebounds, assists and steals.
Coleman’s Abbi Allen finished with 12 points. She also had three blocks, five steals, one rebound and one assist.
Mason’s McKenzie Cano did not score for the South but hauled in eight rebounds, had two assists, two steals and a block. She is set to play basketball at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
San Saba’s Courtnee Cash, who will play hoops for Cameron University next year, scored five points and had three rebounds, one assist and four steals.
Sonora’s Skylar Harris, who will compete for Abilene Christian in track and field next year, had four points and an assist.
Wall’s Falyn Guy had a 3-point goal and a rebound for the South.
Mykia Anderson of Clyde and Tate Thompson of Albany were the South coaches, while Sheila Arnwine of Roscoe and Royce Jesko of Santa Anna were the North coaches.
The North beat the South 75-66 in the boys all-star game.
San Saba’s Logan Glover led the South with a double-double. Set to play football for ASU, Glover knocked down 20 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to go with two blocks, two assists and a steal.
San Angelo TLCA’s Jevon Everitt finished with five points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals for the South, while Ballinger’s Jonathan Delgado scored eight points and had three steals.
Menard’s Kallin Kothmann chipped in five points and four rebounds for the South, while Winters’ Alex Rodriguez had seven points and five rebounds. He also had an assist and a steal.
Glover had two 3-point goals for the South, while Rodriguez had one trey.
Abilene High’s Nathan Watts led the North with 16 points, while Dublin’s Daniel Escobar had 15.
Big Spring’s Kyler Seymore chipped in six points, and Forsan’s Mason Hillger added two, but also had five rebounds and two blocks.
Stephenville’s Kia McCarty and Jayton’s Ryan Bleiker coached the North squad.
The South team was coached by Hawley’s Matt Preston and TLCA’s Kent Sherrill.
The golf tournament consisted of individual scoring on the first day and a scramble format on the second. Prizes were awarded but specific details were unavailable at press time.
The series continues Friday in San Angelo with softball at the San Angelo Central Softball Complex and baseball at Nathan Donsky Field.
On Saturday, football and volleyball games will be played in Abilene.
