QB Jerod Thomas paces Northeast in blowout win over Navarro

Mark Swanson

Northeast defeated Navarro 72-7 Friday.

Northeast Early College dominated Navarro in every phase of the game, rolling to an easy 72-7 win. The Raiders scored on every possession in the first half and were never seriously challenged.

Northeast quarterback Jerod Thomas had a massive night, going 10 of 11 for 291 yards and two touchdowns, along with two others on the ground. He completed passes of 58, 47, 42, 37 and 32 yards and was able to do whatever he wanted. He hit passes down field and short that turned into big gainers.

On the opening drive, Northeast (1-1) turned a 47-yard pas to Kawaski Latham into a 4-yard touchdown run by D’Corey Eason. Navarro (0-2) actually answered right back, with Keillan More scampering in from 11 yards to tie the game, 7-7.

It was all Northeast from there. A 35-point second quarter made it 56-7 at halftime. That quarter featured a 28-yard punt return by Al Davis for a score, a 42-yard touchdown run from Jamir Williams and a 58-yard catch and run for another score by Latham.
