The following defendants were sentenced in 35th Judicial District Court, District Attorney Micheal Murray’s office announced: Jeremy McConnell pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with deadly weapon and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Bo Earl Blair, on probation for DWI, was revoked and sentenced to seven years in prison.
The May session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned 51 indictments against 49 individuals, District Attorney Micheal Murray’s office announced. The DA’s office does not release names of defendants who have been indicted but not yet arrested because of an indictment being sealed until the time of arrest.
Howard Payne University recognized 211 students for academic success during the spring 2022 semester. Students must earn a 4.0 grade point average to be named to the President’s List, a 3.65-3.99 grade point average to be named to the Dean’s List and a 3.5-3.64 grade point average to be named to the Honor Roll. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in 12 or more semester credit hours and have no grade of Fail (F), No Grade (NG) or Incomplete Grade (I) for all courses attempted.
