NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are drifting upward on Friday, as Wall Street nears the end of one of its worst weeks since the 2020 coronavirus crash.

Defendants sentenced, cases filed in Brown County courts
The following defendants were sentenced in 35th Judicial District Court, District Attorney Micheal Murray’s office announced: Jeremy McConnell pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with deadly weapon and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Bo Earl Blair, on probation for DWI, was revoked and sentenced to seven years in prison.
May grand jury returns 51 indictments
The May session of the Brown County Grand Jury returned 51 indictments against 49 individuals, District Attorney Micheal Murray’s office announced. The DA’s office does not release names of defendants who have been indicted but not yet arrested because of an indictment being sealed until the time of arrest.
HPU students recognized for academic success
Howard Payne University recognized 211 students for academic success during the spring 2022 semester. Students must earn a 4.0 grade point average to be named to the President’s List, a 3.65-3.99 grade point average to be named to the Dean’s List and a 3.5-3.64 grade point average to be named to the Honor Roll. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in 12 or more semester credit hours and have no grade of Fail (F), No Grade (NG) or Incomplete Grade (I) for all courses attempted.

Grown child wants mom to move past divorce
DEAR ABBY: When my sibling and I were 6 and 10, our parents sat us down and told us they were getting a divorce because Dad had an affair. Mom was, to say the least, incredibly hurt. Her hurt and resentment haven’t subsided to this day. Dad has never apologized to her, but he has supported her financially ever since.

Comanche man re-elected to cooperative’s board
EARLY—Central Texas Farm Credit (CTFC) stockholders re-elected Kenneth Harvick of Comanche to the rural lending cooperative’s board of directors. Harvick will serve a three-year term.

Willie’s T’s began in 1990 with Will Carrier, Joe Baucom, and Brad Wardlow. While Baucom and Wardlow left Willie’s T’s for other opportunities, Will carried on the business. The first order was for Howard Payne University. The business began in a 300-square-foot space and has expanded to 15,000 square feet. With this expansion came other offered services such as embroidery, signage, and vehicle wrapping, on top of their original service of screen printing.
