R. Cheatham, Texas Ranger

R. Cheatham was a pioneer of Blackwood, Coleman County (just barely across the Brown county line). He had an exciting and interesting life. He went on several Indian chases, made eventful trips through West Texas, and helped arrest many frontier outlaws while he was a Texas Ranger from June 1874 to September, 1876.

Powered by a 1,600-horsepower turboprop engine, the plane — which is equipped with both floats and wheels — can drop 800 gallons of water onto a fire in three seconds.
