Felony defendants sentenced in district court
District Attorney Micheal Murray reported the following defendants were sentenced in 35th Judicial District Court: Clark R. Perry pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Colleague’s cancer fight waged in different manner
My husband was diagnosed with advanced chronic leukemia seven years ago. After two rounds of chemo, he was better for a while but was diagnosed with advanced multiple myeloma a year ago. He has been through almost constant chemo and radiation, lost more than six inches of height due to osteoporosis and fractures, and can barely walk around the house or get in and out of the car for his doctor’s appointments. We almost lost him three times, but he’s hanging on. For us, this is reality. But we have a teenage daughter, and I still have to work to support us. I do not share this information at work.

The American Southwest Conference named Howard Payne quarterback Landon McKinney as its Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Yellow Jackets’ 42-39 loss to the George Fox (Oregon) Bruins last Saturday at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Four police academy graduates to work locally
The Central Texas College Police Academy recently hosted a graduation ceremony honoring 11 cadets — including two from the Brownwood Police Department and two from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office — who completed the 22-week, 720-hour Basic Peace Officer Course Charlie 2022 program.

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Twisted Axes, 203 Fisk in Brownwood.Owned and operated by Jason and Serena Dickey, the business offers axe throwing along with ninja stars, darts and throwing cards. Ages 10 and up are welcome to participate in this family friendly environment. Larger group reservations are also available. Indians have tripled 2021 win total
When football teams double their win total over their previous season, it’s considered a significant accomplishment. After only three games, the Comanche Indians have tripled their win total over last year, when they finished 1-9 under new head coach Jake Escobar.
