7th Annual Corks and Caps will be Oct. 1 in Brownwood
Make plans to attend the 7th Annual Corks and Caps presented by Ask for the Girls at Stanley Brownwood. The event is set for Saturday, October 1 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Depot Plaza in Brownwood.
Bangs beats Eagles, 53-6, for first win
GRAPE CREEK – Guy Powell rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Kenny Cole passed for 141 yards and three scores as the Bangs Dragons gained their first win this season with a 53-6 decision over the Grape Creek Eagles on Friday night.
Brownwood library plans Friends of the Library meeting

Poultry is a mighty source of protein
Did you know that poultry is more than just chickens? There are different types of poultry raised in Texas including turkeys, geese, ducks, guineas, peafowl, pigeons, quail, and chickens. All of these different types of poultry are raised in Texas, which makes poultry vital to the Texas economy. In Texas, broiler chickens and turkeys are the primary poultry grown for meat production. Broiler is the name given to chickens raised for meat.
Tips to improve hunter safety, reduce accidents
Last year, hunting related accidents in Texas hit an all-time low, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is hoping to continue that downward trend. One way to do that, according to Steve Hall, TPWD Hunter Education coordinator, is for hunters to ensure they always maintain a safe zone of fire.
It’s time for fall gardening in Texas

Many gardeners will plant vegetables in the spring and early summer and not realize they can also grow vegetables in the fall.
