Lanier honored; HPU hosts key game Saturday

Mike Lee / Brownwood Bulletin Howard Payne kick returner Otis Lanier was named Special Teams Player of the Week in American Southwest Conference football after returning a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in Saturday’s 59-45 win over Texas Lutheran in the season and conference opener. Lanier, a senior from Houston, also returned two kickoffs for 44 yards and caught four passes for 32 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown reception.

‘If I can change one person’s outlook …’

Brownwood native Joshua See is someone who has met challenges head-on — as a Brownwood Lions football player in the early 2000’s, later as a Marine with two Afghanistan deployments and now as a Dallas police officer assigned to the city’s Southeast division. See, 35, graduated from Brownwood High School in 2006 and served in the Marines from December 2006 to December 2017.
