BALLINGER – An unexpected rain storm on a grass, and eventually muddy, field on the road in the district opener proved to be no problem for the Early Longhorns’ football team Friday night. Kaleb Ozuna rushed for two touchdowns, and Early’s defense limited Ballinger’s offense to a minus-33 total yards as Longhorns shut out the Bearcats 36-0 in District 2-3A Division II opener.

2022 National Night Out for Brown County is scheduled for Tuesday, October 11. Steven Nash took photos at Brownwood’s District 2-4A Division I football opener and homecoming game Friday night against Big Spring at Gordon Wood Stadium. The Lions won 41-10 to improve to 5-2 overall. The Lions have one remaining home game Oct. 21 against Lubbock Estacado.
BANGS – Kenny Cole passed for 164 yards and three touchdowns Friday night, and Guy Powell rushed for 188 yards and scored three TDs as the Bangs Dragons shut out the winless Goldthwaite Eagles 40-0. The Dragons (4-2 overall) won their fourth straight game and improved to 2-0 in District 5-2A Division I football.
