The Thanksgiving holiday can be one of the most gratifying times of the year. Enjoying a great meal with family and friends is a treat that most look forward to. However, it can also be a very stressful time. So much so that some do not enjoy the holiday as much as they’d like because of the stresses brought on by cooking, cleaning, and entertaining.

Reader says there is plenty of time to get busy reading

DEAR ABBY: I read the letter from the woman who is feeling alone at 66 and pondering the purpose of life (“Living Life in Texas,” July 25). Assuming she’s in good health, she’s a spring chicken compared to a 90-year-old. Allow me to offer some suggestions on how she can recapture the spark of wonder and amazement that life’s boundless opportunities offer. I’m 68 and speak from experience.

‘Surviving the Holidays’ grief program is Nov. 15

It hurts to lose someone, and grief is especially devastating in the holiday season. How does one in grief go on when others are celebrating? What about keeping family traditions in a time when everything has changed? How can one let their loved ones know how to help them walk through this difficult time with them? These questions and so many other practical issues are addressed in “Surviving The Holidays” by Grief Share, hosted by Gentiva Hospice and Victory Life Church, Brownwood on Tuesday, November 15, at 6:30 PM.

Thirty-eight Brownwood High School Choir students traveled Wichita Falls in October for All Region Choir auditions. The following students made the All Region Mixed Choir: Basses: Colton Stewart - 11th chair, Alden Cecil - 13th chair, Jack Field - 1st alternate Tenors: Langston Barnes - 4th chair, Chris Blair - 11th chair Altos: Rachel Miller - 3rd chair, Addie Bennett - 1st alternate, Kailee Bessent - 2nd alternate Sopranos: Bryleigh Gutierrez - 1st alternate, Aqua Garcia - 2nd alternate The following made the All Region Treble Choir: Sopranos: Bryleigh Gutierrez, Aqua Garcia, Emory May Altos: Addie Bennett, Kailee Bessent, Autumn Borgia .
