Kevin Bachtel named HPU head football coach

The Howard Payne University athletic department announced the naming of current assistant head coach Kevin Bachtel as the next head coach to guide the Yellow Jacket football program after his brohter, Jason Bachtel — who was named the Yellow Jacket’s head coach in January 2021 — accepted a coordinator position at Houston Christian University, “Having closely worked with Kevin the past two seasons, I am excited that he is going to be our head football coach,” said Hunter Sims, HPU director of athletics. “I am thrilled that we will be able to continue success for the HPU football program. He is a man of God and a strong fit to guide the Yellow Jacket program.”

Postseason path all but set as Cowboys back into playoffs

The Dallas Cowboys lost a game they should have won at Jacksonville and backed into the playoffs when the New York Giants beat Washington. Virtually locked into the fifth seed in the NFC with three games remaining, Dak Prescott and company face an intriguing finish of trying to build momentum for the postseason in games that are unlikely to have much consequence otherwise for them.
