Lions open Brady tournament with win
Forward Hayden Proffitt led three Brownwood players in double figures with 14 points Thursday as the Lions beat the Llano Yellow Jackets 71-50 in the Brady basketball tournament. Brownwood (5-3) also got 13 points from guard Tristan Salinas and 12 points from post Trent Loftin.

Two arrested in connection with July shooting
Two Brownwood residents were arrested Wednesday in connection with a July 5 shooting that wounded a man in the leg, police said. Alyssa Blackburn, 19, and Jamal Deon Baker, 20, were booked into the Brown County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police and Brown County Jail records state.
