A graveside funeral service for Barbara Denhart, age 82, of Bangs, will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Bangs Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. Barbara passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, in Brownwood.

Mitzi Lehrer named Yellow Rose Award recipient

Dr. Mitzi Lehrer, retired Howard Payne University faculty member, has been named the HPU Women’s Club’s 2023 Yellow Rose Award recipient. The recognition will be given at the club’s annual Yellow Rose Scholarship Luncheon, scheduled for April 20. The event is sponsored by area businesses and friends of HPU and will be held in the Beadel Dining Hall of HPU’s Mabee University Center.

Judging ends at youth fair

Judging of exhibits at the Brown County Youth Fair ended Friday, and the fair was set to conclude with the Awards and Premium Sale Saturday afternoon. The Awards and Premium Sale occurred after the Bulletin’s press deadline for the Sunday edition.

COWBOYS PLAYER TO WATCH: QB Dak Prescott finished the regular season on a career- worst, seven-game interception streak. He threw a pick-6 in three of the last four games. Prescott’s 15 interceptions tied Davis Mills of three-win Houston for the most in the NFL despite the 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year missing five games with a broken thumb. The Dallas offense was much better with Prescott than without, but turnovers have been an issue that could cost the Cowboys in the playoffs.
