On March 21, 1968, the Abilene Reporter-News ran this article and obituary about Air Force Capt. Michael Carroll, 26, of Brownwood, who was lost with seven other crewmen when a B-52 bomber crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. The article gave Carroll's rank as first lieutenant and his age as 27
