HPU Department of Music hosts events for area high schools

Howard Payne University’s Department of Music hosted two events in April for area high school music students. More than 100 students from eight area schools participated in the HPU Band Festival held on the HPU campus on April 11. Two weeks later, the first-ever HPU Percussion Festival was held with 70 students participating from six area high schools.

Two HPU science departments to merge

Howard Payne University’s School of Science and Mathematics announces the merging of two current science departments. The Departments of Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences have had a long-standing relationship of strong collaborations through academics and student support. The departments will combine their strengths into a newly formed Department of Natural Sciences beginning this fall. 

HPU names new dean of Christian Studies

Howard Payne University recently appointed Dr. David Lowrie as dean of the School of Christian Studies. Lowrie brings more than 43 years of ministry experience and leadership to the role and will begin the position in August. Dr. Gary Gramling, current dean of the School of Christian Studies, will continue to serve as director of Christian studies graduate programs and professor of Christian studies.
