They went up the Chisum Trail that John Chisum blazed out and other trails and crossed the Red River, to go to Western Kansas. They had to deal with stampedes, storms, dry weather, lack of water, and Native Americans that sometimes wanted to steal the cattle or get them by threat of harm.
