The Pre-College Music program at Howard Payne University is designed to serve Brownwood and the surrounding communities in providing music lessons to children and adults. The Pre-College Music Department is a division of the Howard Payne University School of Education and Fine Arts.

Brownwood High School has achieved Exemplary Status in the Texas Educational Theatre Association’s Award of Distinction. The award recognizes individual schools and districts that are making outstanding contributions to raising standards for theatre education through achievement, curation of resources, diversity, and advocacy for theatre arts.

Howard Payne University welcomed five faculty members for the 2025-2026 academic year.
